More HMRC Publicity about 'Tax Cheats'
Plumbers and Restaurants have already found themselves in the firing line this year. A recent announcement has indicated that HMRC will be targeting those who provide coaching and private tuition (examples given include dance, fitness, and lifestyle coaching), and those involved in e-trading.
HMRC seem confident that substantial sums will be raised. They make the point that they will be using intelligent web-robot software to search the internet to identify individuals involved in such activity. In a topical comment, they include a reference to their current campaign to target plumbers;
"This will build on HMRC's plumbers' campaign and give an opportunity to another group of tradespeople to come forward and declare unpaid tax."
